Smart homes are quickly becoming the new normal. With countless companies making smart products and home automation systems, it can be hard to know where to start. When you’re starting your smart home, Schlage believes that safety should be your first priority. There are plenty of smart devices that can help, like cameras, motions sensors and smoke detectors, but none more simple and familiar than your front door deadbolt.
Safe smart home - Home Security - Smart Lock - Schlage Sense

A background in safety

Schlage has been making locks for more than a century, and we put all that knowledge into our electronic deadbolts. The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) sets the industry standard for secure home products. All our door hardware, including our electronic deadbolts, has been tested against their guidelines and many have the highest residential BHMA security rating on the market. You can have peace of mind knowing that your home is well protected.

Understanding BHMA security grades

The BHMA has three categories - Security, Durability and Finish - that it grades residential locks on. The three grades they give, “C” for good, “B” for better, “A” for best, are given in each category. The Schlage ConnectTM Touchscreen Deadbolt with Built-In Alarm, Schlage SenseTM Smart Deadbolt, and the Schlage TouchTM Keyless Touchscreen Deadbolt and Lever received a rating of AAA from the BHMA.

Security

Security measures the lock’s strength by how well the hardware withstands impact and remains secure.

Durability

Durability tests how long-lasting and functional the door hardware is. The tests to measure durability include ease of opening the door and long-term use of door hardware.

Finish

The finish rating is based on the door hardware not corroding, peeling, etc. over time. Various weather conditions are tested to make sure the product will withstand different climates.

Ditch your keys

When you go keyless, not only do you never have to worry about losing your house keys, you also never have to worry about someone stealing them. No more hiding keys under the mat for guests or making a copy and never getting it back. Just give your guests their own access code. The Schlage Connect™ Touchscreen Deadbolt can hold up to 30 codes for anyone that might need to enter your home.

Never forget to lock up

With the Schlage Sense™ Smart Deadbolt, you’ll never again have to go back home and make sure you remembered to lock your door. Using the Schlage Sense app and Apple HomeKit*, you can lock and unlock your door from anywhere. This is also a great capability to have if you have guests coming over. You can let them into your house from the app whether you’re home or not.

Extra Features

Both the Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt and the Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt come with extra security features including auto-lock and a built-in alarm. By taking advantage of the built-in alarm feature, your deadbolt will activate an alarm when the lock is tampered with or a significant amount of force is applied to the door. Auto-lock allows you to set your deadbolt to automatically lock after a given amount of time. This way, if you forget to lock the door behind you when you get home, you don’t have to worry about locking up before you go to bed. It will already be done.
